SESSA is closed for all federal holidays, and DCPS holiday breaks.
Regular Hours of Operation:
Monday - Friday
- 7:30 am - 8:30 am (Before Care)
- 3:15 pm - 6:30 pm (Aftercare)
Before Care
7:30 am - 8:30 am
Before Care provides a safe, calm, and supervised start to the day for students who need to arrive early.
The program takes place in the school gym and cafeteria, where students participate in quiet activities such as games, reading, and creative play while easing into their morning.
At the conclusion of Before Care, all Pre-K students are escorted directly to their classrooms, while older students transition to either the Multi-Purpose Room or the breakfast line for school breakfast.
Aftercare
3:15 pm - 6:30 pm
Aftercare provides a safe environment for students after the school day ends. The program is designed to support families’ schedules while ensuring students are engaged and supervised until pick-up.
Programming takes place in designated classrooms, the Multi-Purpose Room and outside. Students participate in a balance of structured activities, light homework help, group games, and free play, with time to unwind after the school day. Additional enrichment is offered through our SESSA Cubs.
Safe & authorized pick-up is ensured through our use of Pik-my-kid.
No School Days
9:00 am - 3:00 pm // 6:00 pm
No School Day Programs are available on scheduled school closure days, such as professional development and parent–teacher conference days.
Students enjoy a full day of supervised activities, games, and free play in a safe, engaging environment that supports families’ schedule even when school is out of session.
Families may choose between a 3:00 pm pick-up and 6:00 pm pick-up.
Drop - In
7:30 am - 8:30 am // 3:15 pm - 6:30 pm
Drop-In Care is available for families needing short-term childcare.
Open to all Shepherd families, drop-ins provide full-day coverage, including both AM and PM care.
Families already enrolled in AM or PM care can use drop-ins to extend their coverage for a full day.
